Stephanie Webb Presents What Should Dragon Do? Adventures in Friendship and Growing Together

Dragon couldn’t believe it! How dare her roommate ask her to lower the volume on the TV?  She liked it loud. For a moment, she wondered if she could have reacted differently. Her attitude and choices will affect her relationships and shape the kind of dragon she becomes.

Meet Dragon: A Tale Born from a Heart for Growth

I moved to a new city and went back to school in my 30s. This was my first time living with roommates and it was a lot of learning lessons about communication, kindness and understanding. I would share these situations with friends, and they always found the stories amusing. It is in these little, everyday moments that we can all relate, because they’re so very human. I thought that this would make a great storybook for children.

When we become angry, it can sometimes feel like fire comes out of our mouths and that’s where I thought about creating a story around a dragon: not a scary dragon but one who is still learning that she has choices.

What Should Dragon Do? is for kids ages 3-6 and yet the book is a great reminder for all ages, even adults, since we sometimes forget that we have choices too.

As Sarah P. writes “This is a great book for kids and adults alike. For anyone who has, is, or will be living with other people.”

Helping Children Pause, Think, and Choose Kindness

What Should Dragon Do? contains three short stories of relatable situations that can easily cause irritation and anger. Dragon often reacts immediately with annoyance and anger and yells at those around her. But in each story, we pause to ask if there are other choices to make. This teaches children that there are different ways of responding and that we do have choices. Even when emotions run high, there are kinder ways to respond that help create a more positive environment and better relationships for everyone.

Teaching kids to understand and manage their feelings from an early age is important. What Should Dragon Do? gently guides children through lessons in kindness, empathy and thoughtful decision-making in a way that feels fun and easy to follow. Giving kids these tools early on helps them grow into confident, compassionate individuals who can navigate life’s ups and downs with grace.
