Michelle Wollaston On 30 Days to Reset Your Energy (Whatever Season You’re In)

Some seasons call us to open the windows, sweep away the dust, and step into something new. Others invite us to slow down, turn inward, and make space for rest.

Whether you’re welcoming the fresh growth of spring or settling into the reflective pull of autumn, there’s one thing both seasons have in common: they are natural times to reset.

A reset doesn’t have to mean an overhaul. Often, it’s the smallest daily choices that create the biggest shifts—a few minutes of stillness, a single honest “no,” or the conscious release of something you’ve outgrown. The magic is in the accumulation: one small action leading into another, until your mind feels clearer, your energy steadier, and your spirit lighter.

Why now is the perfect time to reset

Nature moves in cycles, and so do we. In spring, everything is waking up. The air feels alive, ideas sprout, and we’re naturally drawn to try something new. In autumn, the pace shifts. The days shorten, and we instinctively begin to prepare for the quiet and rest of winter.

Both seasons offer the perfect backdrop for change. One invites expansion, the other invites consolidation. In both, we are encouraged to take stock of what we’ve been carrying and decide what’s worth taking with us into the next chapter.

How a reset works

A reset is less about “fixing” yourself and more about returning to yourself. It’s about noticing what’s been draining your energy, what’s been neglected, and what’s been quietly calling for your attention.

The steps can be simple, but the impact can be profound, because each one is a conscious choice to honour yourself.

Small, intentional acts are powerful because they interrupt the autopilot pace of everyday life. They create space for clarity, grounding, and reconnection. You don’t need to wait for a milestone or a crisis to begin—you can choose one small shift today and let it ripple outward.

A few simple ways to begin

Ground Yourself — Stand barefoot for three minutes, breathe deeply, and feel the earth holding you. Stability can be found in the simplest of connections.

Write to Your Younger Self — Offer her the words she always needed to hear. This can open the door to compassion in ways no affirmation ever could.

Unfollow to Unclutter — Remove one page or account from your feed that no longer feels aligned. Clearing your mental space is just as important as clearing your physical space.

Burn a Limiting Belief — Release one thought that no longer supports who you’re becoming. Write it down, then safely burn or discard it as a symbolic letting go.

Say No Once Today — Where you might have said yes out of habit, protect your energy instead. Every “no” creates space for the “yes” that truly matters.

Making it your own

You don’t have to follow a strict sequence or do something every single day to benefit. The point is to weave moments of reconnection into your life so regularly that they stop feeling like “tasks” and start feeling like second nature.

Some days you’ll feel like doing more. Other days, one small step will be enough. This isn’t about perfection. It’s about consistency, kindness, and building trust with yourself.

The season doesn’t matter, but the choice does

You don’t have to wait for the “right” moment. Let spring energise your beginnings, or let autumn ground you in preparation for what’s ahead. The season doesn’t matter as much as your willingness to pause, reflect, and choose again.

If you’d like more inspiration, I’ve created a 30-Day Reset Calendar—a simple collection of prompts to help you reconnect with your energy, your environment, and your inner voice. You can start at any point in the month, and the only “rule” is to meet yourself where you are and move at your own pace.
