From Burlesque Rockstar to Mentor of Pleasure and Self-Healing
Inside every one of us lives a secret superpower: pleasure. Too often reduced to sexuality alone, pleasure is far more than that, it is medicine. We are anatomically designed for pleasure. When cultivated with awareness and the right know-how, it becomes a powerful force for healing, vitality, and self-empowerment.
I speak from experience. For years, I lived the exhilarating life of an international burlesque rockstar. I performed around the world, was inducted into the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, and basked in the glamour of showgirl life. But behind the spotlight, I was also a mother of two young boys, constantly torn between these two worlds. The years of jet-setting eventually caught up with me. In my late forties, after a hysterectomy, my body rebelled. I developed chronic pelvic pain and a painfully diminished libido. None of the doctors I consulted could explain what was happening, let alone offer a solution.
So I embarked on a healing odyssey. I dove deep into the study of pleasure, body awareness, and self-healing practices. Along the way, I encountered wise teachers and invested thousands of hours in discovering, learning, and practising. When sensuality becomes your base, everything changes. Your self-esteem, your relationships, your career, and after a while, living starts to feel like “making love to life”. Not only did my pain dissolve, but my libido returned, on a level I had never imagined before.
Pain, I realised, was not my enemy. It was my teacher. By meeting my pain with curiosity instead of fear, I discovered what I now call PleasureWisdom—the innate intelligence that lives in all of us. Pain became a gateway to self-relationship, to deeper listening, and ultimately to freedom. I am not saying this is easy to achieve, especially since we live in a culture that believes in painkillers and capitalism. But with the right support, PleasureWisdom is achievable for every body.
This transformation extended to my sexuality as well. Menopause and chronic pain had silenced my desire, but by shifting my perspective from frustration to curiosity, I awakened a whole new dimension of pleasure. Today, my sensuality feels more expansive and alive than ever—no longer limited to fleeting orgasms, but grounded in a steady current of gentle pleasure.
This state of gentle pleasure is, I believe, our body’s natural design. It is not only about frenzy or excess, but also about cultivating a flow of vitality that leaves us centred, safe, creative, and resilient. In this state, our bodies thrive, our minds open, and our spirits shine.
I now support women who feel disconnected from their bodies, their sensuality, or their femininity—women who have been told, “That’s just how it is at your age,” or who silently endure chronic pain. Through mentoring, group work, and body-based practices, I help women to rediscover their own BodyWisdom. The results are profound: symptoms ease, energy returns, pleasure awakens, and life begins to expand in ways they never thought possible.
One client left a toxic marriage and stepped into a vibrant new life at sixty-three. Another dissolved a long-scheduled surgery through her body’s own healing process. Again and again, I see how awakening pleasure restores courage, joy, and self-trust.
The truth is, our culture has long suppressed this knowledge, burning it—quite literally—along with the witches. But it is returning. Pleasure is not frivolous. It is the very fabric of our vitality. When we reclaim it, we reclaim ourselves.
You are not the problem—you are the solution. And everything you need—healing, empowerment, joy—already lives in your extraordinary body. All it takes is your decision and the first step.
