When the crown of Mrs. Universe WA 2024–2025 was placed on my head, I felt something shift. It wasn’t loud or dramatic, but it carried weight. It wasn’t just about winning—it was about standing in a moment that reflected years of inner work, creative exploration, and the belief that personal growth doesn’t have an age limit.

I entered the pageant not to chase a title, but to learn more about myself. I’ve always loved fashion—not just as a form of beauty, but as a way to express values and tell stories. Sustainable styling, emerging trends, and causes that matter have long been important to me. The pageant gave me space to express all of that in a way that felt true.

One of the most personal moments for me came during the costume round. I chose to highlight breast cancer awareness, designing an outfit inspired by the Amoena mastectomy bra programme. During my time in fashion retail at Nordstrom, I had supported that cause, and it stayed with me. Wearing that look was a reminder that fashion can honour courage and healing.

The process of preparing for the pageant had its share of challenges. I had no background in pageantry, and there were moments of uncertainty. But I had a strong foundation—my love for creativity, support from my husband Prasad, my mum, friends, and even our dog. We worked through the daily practices and coaching sessions together. Every part of my presentation came from thought and intention. On the day itself, I was fortunate to be supported by kind and talented people—Abir, my designer; Ritchie, who helped with styling; the makeup artists who brought everything together with care; and Shibu, who created the props for my costume. My gown was chosen with simplicity and intention, completing the look I had envisioned.

Fashion continues to be a meaningful part of my life. I enjoy sharing how clothes can be restyled, how thrifting makes a difference, and how we can use what we wear to support positive change. I see fashion as a reflection of who we are and what we care about.

Now, at 43, confidence feels different. It’s no longer about having all the answers or doing everything perfectly. It’s about moving forward, listening to your own voice, and allowing yourself to begin again, even when the timing feels uncertain. For me, this season of life is about trusting the process and staying open.

Since the pageant, I’ve been fortunate to receive recognition and a chance to share my experience with others. But more than anything, I’m grateful for the clarity it’s brought. I want to keep using my story to encourage others to believe in theirs.

If there’s anything I’ve learned, it’s that there’s no need to wait for a perfect moment. The right time is now. You don’t have to be ready—you just have to begin. Stay grounded, stay honest, and keep going. Your path is yours to create.
