Editorial Update: The World Feels Heavy - Same Storm, Different Boats

Thank you for joining us for another issue of the magazine. This marks the final edition in our special anniversary series — a milestone that feels both humbling and hopeful. After this, we’ll be taking a short break and returning on 8 July at 6pm EST. On months with five Tuesdays, we only publish for four, so this little pause is part of our rhythm — a space to breathe, reflect, and reset.

Behind the scenes, there is still much work to do. From tending to emails, refining the way the site runs, to simply giving our minds a bit of room — it’s all part of keeping things grounded and running with care. If you’d like to stay connected with us during this time, we’re still gently active over on Instagram. You can find us there at: @dwc.magazine

We’re often asked why we don’t cover breaking news or trending headlines in our issues. The answer is simple — and intentional. This magazine was created to be a soft place for women to land. A reminder that while the world outside may feel chaotic, there are still corners of peace to hold onto. Our mission has always been to offer stories and reflections that uplift, inspire, and make you feel a little less alone.

Because the truth is — the world is heavy right now. For many, unbearably so. But not all of us are in the same place, and that’s something we hold with compassion.

It’s like that poem that made its way around the world during the pandemic — the one that said we’re all in the same storm, but not in the same boat. That line still rings true today. Some are sailing through gentle tides. Others are holding onto life rafts that feel one wave away from sinking. And many are somewhere in between, quietly navigating whatever life has placed in front of them.

Everyone is going through something. It may not be loud, or public, or even visible — but it’s there. For some, it's grief that lingers in quiet moments. For others, it’s the weight of trying to stay strong while everything feels uncertain. And for many, it’s simply the exhaustion of being human in a world that often forgets how tender we really are.

We don’t always need to know what someone is carrying to meet them with kindness. And that’s what we hope this space continues to be — a place where kindness lives, where women feel seen, and where hope has a little room to grow.

So until we meet again, take what you need. Rest, if you must. Breathe. You’re not falling behind — you’re holding on, and that’s brave. We’ll be back soon.
